Another piece on warmongering. It came after months of brainstorming, initially in late 2023. This was around the time that The Lighthouse by Alexander Semenyuk introduced “war” as a prompt subject for writing.
On War (Appetite For Destruction)
Why aren’t we hippies again?
We love to get high,
talk slow, act mellow
and say all we want is peace, man.
Sex, drugs, rock n roll and no war.
But here we go…
a new “Appetite for Destruction”
and no— it’s not a comeback
from Guns ‘n Roses. Rather, another
(ugh yes, another) hunger
built up to start a war.
I hate war. Who truly loves it other
than warmongers: neo-cons, neo-libs
and the mega defense contractors?
No normie people do for sure.
Here it is: propaganda all out
for the Great War push, once more.
How many times is government
gonna try to pull this war thing?
No plea for peace nor discernment
oh, wouldn’t that be something!
Nope- same old song, same old song!
The one so wrong, the one so wrong!
I would welcome G’nR back full scale
than to have war be all the rage.
Bring back rock n roll, baby!
Bring on Axl Rose wailing
and Slash sliding in to screech
on the big stage.
No more wailing of innocent civilians
dying from tanks and bombs
and all the massive war weapons!
No more babies separated from their moms!
Stop the bloody chaos- bring on the civil!
