Full poem (written):
Louie loved going to the cinema,
caught a flick and crashed
room #2 across the way
to watch another feature.
He would happily pick out
and plop down
on the perfect seats
centered (but not in front row),
shared a large and oily
box of buttered popcorn,
some Milk Duds and soda pop
with his babe. He would try
to steal a kiss or slide in an embrace
and with that, he didn’t care
if the movie was good nor bad
(many of them were great).
Now he loathes the cinema like an enema,
wouldn’t be caught inside one, would crash
on the couch and spend a whole day
watching okay movies on a serious binger
while happily pigging the hell out,
(shirt unbuttoned, zipper down)
on something from Uber Eats,
some nachos with jalapeno,
a box of cookies and he’d easily
down a bag of microwave popcorn
with a few beers or liter of pop
by himself, or maybe be a good guy
and share it all with now wife, Grace
with whom he wouldn’t dare
to sneak in a kiss or hug. Quite sad…
Their marriage’s not so great,
just as the movies as of late.
