REPOST: New With Audio below!
I would not take Manhattan
but indeed would Manhattan Beach—
though like the city former,
real estate’s well out of reach!
At least, I can afford the pizza.
I tell you, there is nothing better
than folding and scarfing down a slice
on the alluring MB beachfront,
heels in sand or along the Strand
instead of in a noisy, un-nice
NYC pizzeria stand.
Maybe I would love Manhattan Beach
even more if rich
as a not so desperate L.A. housewife
married to a Laker or a King,
or some other big time pro baller
living the high life
in a turn-key 2.2 mill mansion
or high-rise condo off Highland
hitting up downtown boutiques
for retail therapy fix
and dinner nightly at Nick’s…
Then again, I treasure Manhattan Beach
most now in memory, with my dear Rich
Such sweet occasion
he and I had… at the Kettle chowing down
on a scrumptious brunch something
and at Shade, lounging around…
A weekend Shade stay’s was a grand
but we spent just a lovely evening
there enhanced with strong cocktail drinks.
Boy, Rich got me hammered good
but didn’t take bad advantage of me!
How I miss my Rich…
but he will always come back
just as the waves do
at Manhattan State,
El Porto, Bruce’s Beach and all
the lovely beaches
beyond those at my
preferred town called Manhattan
that I can’t afford.
