SECURITY AND TRAVEL (IN LIGHT OF DOMESTIC GLOBAL TERRORISM THREAT)
Sadly, the recent terror attack along Bourbon Street in New Orleans has made a concerning number of travelers uneasy about their next trip— but also, the tragedy has reminded us all to keep good and extra vigilance wherever we may roam.
Here are some tips to consider
Keep up-to-date on global travel advisories for your own country and the ones you may potentially visit
For those in USA traveling to a foreign country, jot down the contact information for the corresponding embassy. See and review more info on the US State Dept site
Be very aware of exits (on the plane/train, hotel, major venues that you visit) and plan for exit strategy
Memorize local emergency numbers in the country/region visited and your own immediate emergency contacts
Have constant access to a cell phone
Keep aware of major/local news of the place you’re visiting beforehand and during travel
