Travel Scams: Accommodation Booking
What’s going on: Especially in Rome (as of late), several fradulent travel bookings have been made for lodging that never existed! Interested vacationers were led to book stays via direct credit card payments on the phone rather than through secure web payments.
What to do instead: BOOK through SECURE web payments (especially one linked at marinarena.com ;-). Look for security encryption on sites. Otherwise, find the official phone number from a hotel property of interest and reconfirm that is it legitimate from careful web research.
