Flight Marshall Mismanagement Threatening Air Safety?
The Mess Up Above
Oh, how governmental inefficency and politics can put travel at risk. Specifically, air travel. Federal Air Marshals, or FAMs, are highly regarded by many travelers in the U.S. who see them as reliable security protectors and force if needed in flight. However, FAM management under the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) has been highly questionable with several allegations of operational misuse, political weaponization and civil liberty violations, following implementation of the Quiet Skies Program (started in 2012.
For this long stretch of time, priority of a marshall on flight was lessened about keeping ALL passengers on board safe to monitoring relatively FEW individuals on the QSP list deemed as domestic terrorist threats. More often than otherwise, these individuals were falsely targeted and added to the list due to poltical pressures from Congressmen and gov higher-ups, as well as lack of administrative oversight.
