Do you know what time it is, those who like to travel to the UK and continental Europe? Time to get the lowdown on ETA and ETIAS. Both may be soon requred for you to travel to your destination. Heads up!
ETA
The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for the UK is an advance travel permission.
As of now, Americans and other nationalities may apply.
Who can apply now for an ETA? (Which countries)
Good news: It’s a quick application to fill out- less than a few minutes!
Bad news: Something pesky for you pre-travel planning to do! If rejected for a ETA for some reason (rare) you have to apply for a visa to enter the UK.
ETIAS
What is ETIAS NOT IN EFFECT YET, PLANS FOR IMPLEMENTATION MID 2025
ETIAS, or the European Travel Information and Authorization System, is an electronic screening system designed for passport holders from visa-exempt countries who wish to travel to the European Union and Schengen Area for short-term stays—
Stay duration is up to 90 days in any 180-day period
Launch is likely to start in mid-2025
MANDATORY for travelers from countries like the United States, Australia and Canada IF this program does not get delayed
