Rocío, Trafficked
Poem ( audio)
Imagine if she
were set free from slavery
and traveled the world
like a musician-
not in a dark, hot van
nor ship container…
She’d be a drummer
beating away, pulsating
on snares and cymbals.
rocking that kick drum
and adding in her sweet voice
that of an angel.
*inspired by Rocío, the main girl featured in the movie, Sound of Freedom (2023)
