REMEMBER COVID 2020?
Ideally, this one would have been posted on or just after the 10th of March this year— but better late than never…
AUDIO PREVIEW:
“Happy Anniversary!”
Happy?
This unholy matrimony
is no cause for jubilation
certainly not for celebration
How do we celebrate this thing
when we refuse
to truthfully talk about the thing
in the first place?
Why all the lovy-dovy,
the romance,
the romanticizing
with Covid?
This is no occasion
to get a smaltzy Hallmark-y
anniversary card for keepsake
Such a waste of good stock paper!
And though pretty,
no need for flowers nor cutesy
anniversary wood gifts,
for goodness sake!
This isn’t an occasion
for fine wine and dine...
Or— is it? Maybe we should hit the town
Do a fancy restaurant downtown
Have a fab 3-course meal with dessert.
pop the cork of overpriced champagne
Do something we deserved to,
but was refrained to do during lockdown!
Oh, the “memberberries” ‘bout Covid...
They’re … bitter-nasty, quite poisonous!
How about instead….
Having an anniver-sorry observance
with some fanfare,
No b.s.
but a tete-a-tete
a true discussion
about Covid lies,
deceit of commission
and omission?
How ‘bout that?
