My Stronger Than Pride Album Poem

Inspired by the 3rd studio album by the singer and band, Sade. This turned out to be another downer love poem of mine. Not my intention in creating but it is what it became to be. Album track titles are in bold.
Album
I Never Thought I’d See the Day
but on this inauspicious Sunday,
from onset of twilight,
which turned to
a luminous morning light,
our demise was revealed,
torn in two.
I had thought, said many a time,
that our Love is Stronger Than Pride,
pride we wore so tightly at times.
I had thought our love
would stand the test of time,
that our love was sublime
like Paradise.
I had thought
I would never turn my back on you
I proclaimed to you, and you to me,
“Nothing Can Come Between Us”
but this wedge is too great
This great divide
is not mending.
Now, with a sincere, clean heart
I bid you farewell
Though I know you will
haunt me,
but of course...
You’ll keep looking
for me to reverse course.
I can hear you now, saying
“No te vayas!”
”Siempre Hay Esperanza”
But it feels hopeless
You gave me a vast blanket
of your love sown
with such security
but I shall give it up
give it all up and chart
a course into the unknown.
A Fine Lush Collection
You probably know “Paradise” as the big hit from this release but the whole album is fantastic- so smooth, haunting, atmospheric.
