push me to be in a slot.
Well, I don’t dig that!
That ain’t my vibe, man!
Sometimes I don’t even
know how to define myself.
I question where
I belong on the shelf—
but man, it don’t bother me none!

How to describe Steely Dan’s music? Jazz (electro) rock? Light rock? Soft rock? Yacht rock? Adult contemporary? All of the above! This convo on Sea of Tranquility cast about defining SD music inspired the poem.
