Dedicated on National Kindergarten Day (US), April 21
I wrote my long name right,
was very polite,
smiled big and bright,
held hands tight,
was happy to learn,
cooperated in taking my turn,
waited patiently in line,
did not whine,
listened and listened well,
ate all my food in my lunch pail,
cleaned up my mess,
passed the clean hands test,
sat neatly with Indian style lap
put down head to nap
did not steal or lie,
kept my laces tied ...
but they still wanted to
hold me back.
Apparently,
I didn't speak.
Such a profoundly sad poem Marinarena.
Love the turn at the end, love that you call attention to things that should be obvious (I.e., all children learn differently, some children are introverts, etc).
