He,
like America,
is ever dynamic,
growing,
searching to be better
and looking toward the future.
He seems like the Promised Land—but is not.
He is
misunderstood,
stubborn
and
proud.
Like America,
he is caught between wanting to be the world’s savior
and wishing to be isolated from everyone else.
and like her,
he has been tested time after time
but will not be defeated.
