Being in the crush of cars
hearing the beep-beep, honk-honk
and screeching of the brakes
leaves me breathless!
Yes, breathless!
And along with that whiff of exhaust
from the bumper ahead
gets me to sway my head.
The good ol’ 9-5 is back!
It’s got me all smiles.
The commute was too mute
for too long.
Feels like Merry Christmas to me in May
seeing the looping traffic stream
of red and white lights.
Good thing we have gridlock again!
Yeah- I know you’re puzzled
by my peculiar notion.
(I can read your reaction even now!)
But... all I was saying with immense glee…
The pandemic’s over.
At last! The return of some normalcy.
