Better that Betty was just an extra
and didn’t become
an unbecoming A-list a-hole.
Better she just did set gigs
here and there
from time to time
for fun, food and giggles
and didn’t dig her heels and fall
into the deep Hollywood hell hole.
Better that she kept herself mainly
in the safer, sane periphery
of La La land…
Better that she stayed shy,
rejected that call to model
from the casting agent
No regrets; that supposed
big break opportunity
could have very well lead
to dread,
could’ve broken her,
could’ve been heartbreak,
leading to personal hell
robbing her of dignity
and purity...
Better that she’s well over 30
and already washed up
by Big Hollywood standards.
No biggie though—
Tinseltown has played
about all of its cards up anyway.
Betty had seen that,
befalling beforehand;
she had discernment.
Hollywood, as she all knew
and blew it up to be
is all but gone.
